Location: Arboretum Horticulture 2 Classroom (UCSC Bioblitz)
Ocean Health Building, room 118 (Younger Lagoon Reserve Bioblitz)
Join the UCSC Natural Reserves for our 3rd annual community-building bioblitz event and help inventory the biodiversity of the UCSC campus and Younger Lagoon Reserve.
The main campus and Younger Lagoon Reserve events will run concurrently from 9 am-12 pm, and are open to everyone: alumni; UCSC students, staff, and faculty; Santa Cruz community members, students of the California Naturalist Program; and more. You can choose which site you would like to attend.
In past bioblitzes, volunteers have made thousands of unique observations of species within a variety of natural abitats. Come join us and participate in expanding our knowledge of our beautiful and unique main and coastal UC Santa Cruz campuses.
Light refreshments will be served for each of the bioblitz sessions.
We’ll be using iNaturalist, a citizen science website and app, to photograph and geographically pinpoint our findings. We will come back together at the end of our observation period to upload our records, share stories and help each other with identifications. Please download the free iNaturalist app onto your smartphone or tablet (not required for participation in this event).
